Specify the measurement

A one-day percentage change, a one-month return and a moving-average comparison are different signals. Specify date range, close versus intraday prices, corporate-action adjustment and trading sessions. A missing observation should not be treated as a zero return.

Look for an information event

Read the company’s releases and filings around the move. Consider sector or macro news as well. Increased price or volume alone cannot tell you whether information is accurate or how long a move will persist.

Respect the limits

A momentum label summarizes historical price behavior. It is not a buy instruction. Our workspace labels its data dates and only calculates indicators when the necessary observations are available.
