Separate fact from forecast

Use three headings: reported facts, your assumptions and open questions. Date the sources. A source link helps you revisit a claim after new information arrives instead of remembering only the story you liked.

Define the disconfirming evidence

Describe events that would weaken the idea, such as customer loss, margin pressure or financing needs. Avoid using price movement alone to prove a business thesis. Prices can move for many reasons over short periods.

Review the decision process

Schedule a review around an information event, not constant screen checking. Record changes honestly. A good outcome can follow poor reasoning and a loss can occur despite careful research; assess the quality of the process separately.
